My friend had a 91 L98 car and the drain in the gas fill area clogged and the gasket on his gas cap had went bad. I don't exactly what kind of damage it caused, but I know the fuel pump, strainer, filter and injectors had to be replaced before the car ran right again. I am pretty sure that his tank had a lot of water in as it had been setting outside for sometime before he drove it and discovered he had a major problem. It had multec injectors which are crap anyway, I am getting ready to have to toss the ones in my 90, so I am sure that finished off what life that his injectors had.

 

just a thought but did you replace the fuel filter, water doesnt flow through them very well at all and also try "isoheet" fuel additive it is made to desolve water in the gas tank.
