Hey I am a just registered user, but I have a strange problem with my corvette that I thought someone might be able to help me with. Its a 91 with 17000 original miles. My dad and I took it out for a sunday drive and parked it in the garage just like we always do when we were finished. About 3 weeks later my dad went to start it up and it just cranked and wont fire. Now the funny part is when you have the key in the on position the ses light flashes and when it does every relay and switch under the hood energizes with it. I pins 1 and 2 but only got the normal 12. If anyone has had anything like this happen please let me know. Thanks for helping a new user out.

 

Have you checked for spark? The ignition control module will do what you're describing. I carry a spare in all my vehicles. They go out without warning, and will work one minute, and not the next.

Also not sure how the vats works on your year, (my experience is they don't crank at all) but you may try a different key if you have one. If not, then try cleaning the pill on the one you have. I don't think that's it, but definitely worth trying. h

 

Thanks for responding. Yes we have checked spark and I replaced the module because it tested bad but did not fix. As for the vats I check the resistance for the key in the harness under the dash and it reads as it should so its getting through the switch but as to where it goes after that I'm not sure.

 

How about fuel pressure? Can you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key on? h
