I have a 91 Vette and recently discovered the hood won't open. The right side will open with no problem, but the Left (driver) side won't budge at all.
I have tried using the tool that Eckler's sells, but have had no luck. I went to a dealer nearby to get a look at a similar Vette to see how this tool might work, but still see no possible way of getting this tool in through the Door to do any good. The Battery is dead so I can't even drive it anywhere to have somebody else fix it.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get the Hood open?
I even tried using Vise Grips on the Cable itself under the dash, but still nothing.

Get someone to lightly push downward on the hood where the stud is, and THEN see if you get a little wobble room to work... It might be binding on the stud as it is.

 

Remove the wheel well liners and you can go in from that way. Also, install some emergency cables so this doesn't happen again. BTW, I thought that tool was made to go in under the hood not the door?
