95 LT1 tune up
We just bought our 1st Corvette, a 95 coupe LT1 auto.
It just turned 39000 miles. I would like to change the spark plugs, spark plug wires,
and flush the cooling system.
What type of plugs and wires are best, and what should I watch out for to flush
the coolant?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks John.

RE: 95 LT1 tune up
Hi There, if you decide to put a higher voltage coil you have to invest in plugs that are made for it. I have some AC delco performance plugs from the dealer. I think there called rapidfires.Ive been warned that high voltage ignition coils can actually melt platinum plugs.
I run MSD everything else, and its quite a noticable boost. I think if you go with there superconductor wire set you can only get red or black wires. If you want other colors Id go with taylor wires.
I store my car in the winter, then I flush the rad every spring before it hits the road. you can buy some rad flush and just follow the instructions

Oh also the spark plug job on the LT1 or L98 just got easier if you look at the special socket you can get from summit racing it has the square end taken off, and you use a wrench and its shortened for real tight spaces...or you buy even more expensive specialty rachets from mid america. I think thats around 30 -50 bucks if you dont want to spend hours grinding your knuckles...

RE: 95 LT1 tune up
Hi,John. With your car having such low mileage, why do a tune up?Is anything wrong?I know it's an older car(I have a '96 with 109000 miles, properly serviced and maintained),but with your miles, well,I really wouldn't change anything at the moment;unless you feel there may be something amiss.Do you?If you don't,why not wait until the proper service interval comes around and then you can "play around a bit",if you know what I mean.Change this and that and have fun.I myself went with factory-mandated plugs when my service time came around, along with a few upgrades, but if you really don't need a lot of expense and if your Vette runs like it should, wait until it racks up a few more trouble-free miles, and then see if it should need anything.Other than that, get in it and ENJOY!!!!It's your Vette!!!Your new friend; Joe.
