i was coming home from work one day when it shut off,so iwent to get a trailer.but when i got back it must have cooled down and it started.i tried to drive it home but when it got hot it died again.when i got it home it had a code p1371 low voltage on the opti.i had put a accel in it 4 months ago and it ate 2 caps and got wet everytime it rained so i bought a msd.after i put it in it ran for a half hour so i closed the hood and started down the road.about 1000feet from my house it died.no ses came on.took it home again put the stock pcm back in it,no change.it has to cool about 3-5 hours before it will restart.so i changed the ign mod,the coil and the crank angle sensor.no change.checked the voltage to the opti and it was good(5v)and checked the ohm from opti connector to pcm,also good.plugged in my scanner when its cold and will start it crankes 134rpm but after its hot it reads 0cranking rpm.gm book said this is the opti but msd said it isnt.this was all the week before xmas so on the 26th i started it to get it hot and work on it and it stayed running!!its my d-driver(199,000miles)so i drive it for 2 weeks to the day and it started doing it again when i got home from work in my driveway.still no codes.any info may help.thanks Ben ps it seems to run longer with the hood open

 

This doesnt really correspond with your codes, but two things i would check first. Does the LT1 have anything like an ignition module on the old distributor engines?

The other thing i would check is the fuel pump. Sometimes when they're about to go, they will die when they get too hot. Give them a chance to cool down, and some come back to life. Just thought id throw those out there. Im not real familier with the LT! engines, sorry.

 

i forget to say i did check the fuel pressure and i did change the ignition module,its on the pass head with the coil.thanks for the sugestions.here is the kicker,today it started up and i'm driving again but i know i'll be walking soon[]

 

Had a LT1 Camaro in my shop a few months back doing the same thing and after much digging and research, finally found that the connector to the Opti was damaged. So check you pins carefully on your connector to make sure they are tight and secure in the connector. [8D]
