antenna
on my '87 it stopped 3/4's of the way up and wouldn't stop running. Wouldn't go up or down.I was not at home at the time and had to cut the wires so it wouldn't run the battery down or catch on fire. I didn't know where the harness conection was at that time. The connection is inside the cargo area on that side under the carpet by the rear speaker. you may want to check it's connection there or at the head unit in the dash. Or it may even be the antenna moter it self. That can be tested with a 12 volt power supply at the cargo area conection. You can trace it back from there. good luck with it.
The mast has a "tape" ladder in it that the motor pulls in a coil to retract and push out to extend. The biggest problem on old GM power antennas is the tape is plastic and either breaks or strips out. Only fix on that old of a car is to replace antenna assembly as you can't buy mast kits for it anymore. [8D]
