The battery in my 85 must be to tall?

It was been worn through from the hood rubbing on it from lack of clearance. Acid is leaking from the wound.

It is an Interstate side post battery - any recommendations? I guess I never considered the height of a battery before.

I like to keep things stock, is there a OEM battery?

optima red top, it is a dry battery and is short and fits perfict in a 1985. i have one in my 84 vette.comes with top and side posts...if you run a raido with amps get the optima yellow top deep cycle. bothe same size.

If it is an Interstate battery, should be a group 75 battery. Gray top is an MT-75 and green top is an 75-50. Those are the proper Interstate batteries for your car. If that is what is in there, then you need to look at the battery tray and make sure it is properly mounted. [8D]

I plan to remove the battery tomorrow to see what is up? I measured some batteries at Wal Mart - I will see what the deal is once it is out.
