Exclamation Bcm went bad in my 94. Isnt the mileage stored there?

My body controle module is putting out some failure to communicate codes in my 94 lt1. So i am going to replace it. My question is isnt the odometer reading stored there? Will i have to take my vette to a dealership to reprogram the odometer back into the bcm? Any help would be appreciated.

The BCM doesn't store mileage. That is in the speedometer assembly. BCM is for air bags, a/c and so forth. ON the newer cars, 98 and up the BCM has to be programmed, but not sure about the 94.

I believe your referring to to the CCM, Central Control Module.

It controls quite a few electrical functions & if replaced it will have to programmed within X number of miles by a dealer or someone with the proper equipment.

Don't have the FSM handy & that's all I can remember.

The CCM has to be programmed with the correct mileage within 100 miles or you are locked out and you cannot change it after that.
