Default a/c control

Hello everyone I am new here as I just bought my first Vette after wanting one for 30 plus years.
I bought a 93 in really great condition but it has some issues as all used cars do. I need help with the A/C system.
It is the automatic temp control, it will only come out the defrost when in auto A/C. It will switch to differnt modes, however when I switch it the air gets warm. With the humidity in Fl. it fogs the windshield rather quickly. I need to get this fixed. I was a Chrysler tech for years and I know that in thier systems you could recalibrate the control head when things got out of wack. Is there something similar here. I read about pulling #1 and #17 fuses for a similar issue. Anyone know if this procedure will help my situation?
Thanks

Hi Vic and welcome
I have read about reseting the temp controller with the fuses wouldn't cost anything to try. The LT1 is a good peace of equipment they are getting old now and you will probably have to catch up with some things. There is a lot of help here and don't forget the search feature at the top of this screen. I was on e-bay last night and there was a set of 2service manual's for a 92 thatshould be the same as a 93. I have found on mine (1992) its not to bad to work on after you get used to it. Sorry I cant help much on the AC controller but I bet somebody will be along to help. Just wanted to point out the service manual.
Good Luck & Congrats

I would also recommend acquiring the Helms manuals, being a former tech you shouldn't have problems following it out to fix your problem.

Thanks for the advice, Ric I have been out of town so I am not able to pull the fuses just yet will be home tonight to try it though. As for the service manuals I am going to check ebay for those. There are some other issues as well so it will be money well spent. I picked this car up from the origianl owner with all the reciepts for repairs. It was always garaged or covered. extremly good condition but several small things to take care of.
Also thanks to Toms94, I have bought a service manual from Auto Zone however the detail needed for realy being much help isn't there.

This is for a 95. Have no idea if your 93 is the same. You may also check under the pass/side fuel rail cover for a broken vacumn valve?

Open the pass/door. Fuse panel is behind a plastic cover on the end of the upper trim pad.

You can try to reset the system. Turn your ignition key to off or lock.

Remove the courtesy light & radio fuses for one minute.

Put the fuses back in & start the car. If that doesn't do it you have other problems?

not sure if this will help--I have a 94 with autohvac and having a few issues with the control head. In my research have discovered that we have a a/c programmer which i have been told is similar to a mode door actuator. I'm assuming that your compressor kicks on when it's supposed to? welcome to the forum!! Alot of great people who love to help on this site

Thanks Scooterman, the A/C compressor works fine the air gets cold as normal it will only come out the defrost vent. I can put it to the floor however when I direct it there the air goes warm after a few seconds. Is the programmer part of the control head or is it seperate, and if so where might I locate it.

The control head and programmer are seperate. You probably have a bad programmer, since the vacuum actuator for the mode door is inside the programmer. The programmer receives commands from control head via 2 serial data lines. Also, you can retrieve codes from the control head. I don't have my manuals in front of me, but on Cadillac's, you press the "Off" and "Warmer" buttons at the same time and you can get codes that way.
