First thing go back to the shop that said the original was bad and get your cash back.

I'm guessin' your aldl socket is not connected. Do you have a multimeter? Test for power, and test also the ground. Someone else here I'm sure has specs for each lead in the socket.

O.K. formalities over with...

My '87 baby (pic's included) runs about 190 degerees on a perfect day, in a perfect world, on the highway.

City is 215 to 225 degrees, depending on the friggin' traffic AND humidity

Hope this helps[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

You say it won't "read". Are they not getting any scan tool data? Does the car run? If the scan tool powers up and can't communicate with scan tool, several things could be happening. Could be a shorted solenoid that is controlled by ECM, bad ground, no 12v supply to ECM. Sounds like they didn't check it out to thouroughly. Also, make sure you swapped your PROM from the old ECM to the new one.

I'm replyin' here 20, to the other thread.

If there's no 'read' at the ALDL, check the ground terminal. You're concerned with the two top row, far right pins. One of the two is power, the other is ground.

Put the positive probe of the mm into one of the two holes, and thenegativeto a good ground, like thedoor hinge (NO PAINT).With the key on, you should get 12 volts. If nothing, put the positive probe tothe other of the two holes. If you get 12 volts there, then put the ground probe into the first hole that you tried. If you don't have 12 V now, then the ground is bad from the link to whereever it grounds.

Come back on that test after you try.
