Question clear coat removal

Hi all,

I would like to remove the clear coat from my 1990 coupe wheels so I can polish the aluminum. Any suggestions on what kind of stripper to use?

Mike, about any kind will work, most folks use the aircraft type. The water soluble stuff is easier to work with.

I agree, i bought the most "non toxic" stripper from home depot, the gel type, and I worked on them a little at a time. I would apply a coat, work on something else for 15 minutes, come back and soft scrape. Apply some more, I guess after a weekend I had 90% removed, with just a few trouble spots remaining.
Get some good metal cleaner/polish, and they will look great. Made my 86 wheels look like new.
