Default Computer probs 1986 Corvette

Having 1986 corvette problems… I am getting codes, almost always different. 43, 42, 33, 36. Ect; Most dealing with the MAF. When I drive the car it has a marked hesitation at one general RPM. It felt like a MAF, but this week I have been having trans problems too. I have the 4/3 std trans. No offence to anyone who loves that trans but I really hate it. Now the overdrive unit is searching for gears, confused then it stops searching. At that point I have a 4spd with no over drive. The light on the dash comes on and off. But there is no changing going on. When I drive with just a 4spd the car overheats and runs at high rpm. I am afraid there is a computer problem rather than a MAF sensor. The new computer costs 75 dollars and the new MAF costs 150 I guess I will start there. I hope it’s not both. [/i]

It also feels like my Knock sensor is not working.I might change that too.

i would first try a MAF sensor cleaner. It did miracles for my lt1, and only cost me 5.99. Pick it up at a local auto parts store.

Glad to have ya' on the boards there...

Make sure you're not buyin' unnecessary parts there. Do ya' have the shop manual for your car? It will save ya' LOTS of cash by diagnosin' the problem, and you will learn your way around your motor, just you know your way around the house in the dark uh-huh!
