have not had a vette since 65, recently got a 87, biggest problem right now is dash is dark at night, pretty dim at day also, noticed fuse plug (lcd) is not fused tryed to put one in and socket does not accept fuse . could this be my problem???

with the key off are the gauges blacked out?it might be the photo cell in the cluster.can you see the leds with the key off?

 

More than likely, your IC LED's are bad. You might have to get it rebuilt, I had to on my 86.

 

I have an issue my the vette the dash comes on all bright and the once the gauges reset the light goes dim? what does this sound like? and yes the dimmer is turned all the way up.
