When I purchased my '86 C4, it came with a single set of keys only. They are VATS Keys. I did not receive any Remotes - should I have? Did all '86 C4's have remotes? Thanks.

 

The key you are referring to has a resistor pellet in it the the tumbler reads to enable the vehicle to start. If the BCM or VATS module does not see the right preprogrammed resistance, it will not fire the injectors. Not sure about the remote, but with the incorrect key, the car will not start. Most locksmiths have a key reader and can make you the right key for your car. [8D]

 

I am quite familiar with VATS as it is on my '89 Trans Am, albeit I disabled it with the correct resistor. I'm wondering if my C4 has a remote that I didn't get.
