Default No remote Key module for my vette

I bought a used 2000 coupe that had come back from Japan. I bought a key fob thinking thats all I had to do to have the doors unlock but it does not have the system or something. Dealer said I didnt have the module. Is there any fix for this? Has anyone ever heard of them not putting that in the car? I think its crazy, not to have and always have to use my key. I would prefer not to do a aftermarket system if I have a choice. Thanks for any comments or help.

I would get the opinion of a different mechanic. I never heard of export C5s not having a module. I understand that replacement modules are NOT inexpensive, unfortunately.

Thanks Dave, I may try to do that. I am afraid to toke it anywhere right now, just had it painted and had to take it to the shop for the steering control lock, they accidentally scratched the fender so deep it has to be repainted. Just doesnt make sense though that its not in the car.
