Default electric cooling fans

I just bought a 1996 coupe and noticed it heating up when idleingon me today. Evendently the cooling fans are not kicking in. I have checked the fuses under the hood and they appear to be ok. What would be my next step here?

After reading some post in this forum I have discovered that the fans come on when I turn on the A/C.

They should also come on without a/c around 220 degrees.

Thanks LB, I took it out for a drive after I turned the AC on and then cut it off to see if it heated up again. It didn't. Maybe the ECM had to reset or something. Just hope it stays fixed. Headed out of town in it. Mike

in my experience, checking fuses visually isnt enough, if you dont ahve a good tester, just replace the fan fuse. the same thing happened to me, and neither fan would turn on, regardless of the condition (ac/temp), and swapping fuses did the trick
