Electronic problem
My alternator burnt up and I replaced it. I was driving it today when it started to run rough, the ac freaked and quit as the charge went to 16 amps. I pulled over pulled the plug and drove her home. I have looked for the problem but no luck. Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions as to where to look?

Welcome to the forum.
First have the place you got the new alternator at test it. Was it a new or rebuilt alternator?
Was it 16 amps or volts?
When you said old alternator "burned up", what were the symptoms?
Did the current/voltage go back to normal when you disconnected the A/C?
Did you try reconnecting the A/C to see if the problem returned?
If not the alternator then I'd suspect the A/C compressor clutch. Might check the resistance of the clutch and compare w/ a good one.
