I know below half a tank your starving the pump. Called fuel slosh. It has happened to me when I have 1/5 of a tank left but 1/2??? I have not heard of that. Have you changed your filter? Injectors ok???

ive tried different orientations of the fuel sock but i havent noticed any difference, so i leave it at 6 o'clock.

my car did this when my fuel pump was going out (mainly because it was half clogged cause i didnt install the sock[sm=bangbang.gif] thank god for warrenties lol)
if you have a haynes manual there are tests you can perform to narrow down the cause. you might want to take a peek inside the fuel tank and see how the pump looks.

the fuel pump is new as well as the fuel filter i have a haynes book and i did all it said it checks out good i said half tank but1/5 is probly closer between half and reserve is my bad spot i am going to blow out the lines with air just to make sure its not clogged hope the air dont hurt the injection system if it dosent help maybe it will just stay like that ill just have to gas sooner instead of waiting till empty lol thanks

I use my car (86 conv.) in autocross and this happens to a lot of cars under hard cornering (my buddies s 2000) I cannot run with less than half a tank of fuel without this happening . some guys run a second small tank that is filled from the primary tank or make a swinging pickup in the main tank to help with this . I havent even looked at how to get at mine yet ,but I think a swinging pick up will be my choice ( piece of flexible fuel line with a heavy "sock" on the end ) most remote control airplanes use this method so you can fly inverted ( and no, I will keep the vette firmly upright at all times)

Cheers

Just a heads up. Also your gas sending unit in the tank could be messed up. So you may not have as much gas as it appears. So ya might want to check on that just for the hell of it. Good luck.
