I am having trouble getting my hood to open. The latch on the left side is jammed. Whenever I pull up on the handle to open the hood the right side opens but not the left side. Is there any way I can manually get the hood to open? Any help would be appreciated.

They make a tool you can buy to open your hood in case the cable breaks. Maybe this would help. I have heard of people making their own. Here is a link to the tool: http://www.madvet.com/shop?frame=1.948

 

The fact that the right side opens when you pull on the release would suggest that the cable is still intact. I would have a friend pull on the relaease and keep it all the way back while you pulled on the left side of the hood to try to get the thing to pop up. Then lube the latch and work the plate back and forth to get it to stop sticking. I haven't looked to see if thereis one cable for both sides or there are twothat meet somewhere. If the former, maybethe left side cable broke loose. Good Luck.

I appreciate all the replies. I managed to get it open after pulling up on the hood really hard while the hood release handle was up. The cables do not seem to be broken although I suspect that the cable that opens the left side is loose. Also could it be that the spring on the left needs to be lubricated ?
