Interior Resto
I just got my '93 last Saturday. Im looking around for good resto parts. Only problem is, I have the red interior and everything I find would not look right (new red+old red=wtf). Any ideas, leads, or dealers would be greatly appreciated.
SEM,SHERWIN WILLIAMS, AND OTHERS make quality dyes used by professional restorers. I would not dye seats (wear and tear) but dash and door panels and plastic parts would be a fine diy project. Just make sure the parts are prepped properly and you use a good product. I am doing mine as we speak, Imanage a large shop in the Chicagoland area so I have access to everything needed.
if the panels were painted or dyed prior best to strip them back to the original factory finish. I used a water based citrus stripper ( it takes longer but will not destroy the factory material or grain) wash off per instructions on the stripper, then use fine steel wool and a degreaser to scuff and clean the panel. follow the dye makers process if they require an adhesion promoter some require this to soften the vinyl, then spray the dye in light coats waiting about 10 min. between them good as new
Hey,Matt....try Eckler's,Mid-America or Corvette Central. They all have great interior packages for every Vette out there....I know...I want to get new seat covers and door panels myself;mine are not up to snuff anymore....hope this helps,Joe.
