Default Koni or Bilstein ?

I will be purchasing shocks (front & rear) in the near future for my 85 Vette. I was wondering which shock is better the Koni Reds or the Bilstein Autocross.

Well,I believe the Bilsteins came with Vettes with the FX3 adjustable suspension. You may be able to put them in your car,but the Konis are just as good,if you want to save a little money.Have you considered KYB? I have a set on my 96 and it handles great, without a punishing ride either.Let us know what you decide,ok??

*nods* Yep, I believe that to be true. Me, personally, I'd go with the Bilsteins, but at the end of the day the ultimate choice is up to you.

I read that blisteins have a problem with a "gas leakage" or something in there shox. KYB is better. Koni is good but best in my opinion is the KYB

I'd stay with Blisteins for 84-87. The suspensions in those years were already stiff.

Blisteins are Corvette factory racing parts, Koni's are aftermarket performance parts.

KYBs are a little bit softer than bilstiens, so they will have a better ride, but not as good of handling as your looking for.

I completely agree; as a matter of fact, when our shocks go on our car, I am doing exactly that....

I have never heard of issues with Bilsteins before, always heard good things.

I just heard that. I have blisteins on now and the ride is very stiff and I like it that way. I feel more in control with a stiffer ride. I am thinking about a camber brace for when I take hard turns to stiffen the car a bit more....

Thanks for the replies. I think im going to go with the Bilsteins since everyone seems to stand by them. As for the KYB shock, I have them on my Mustang and they are much softer than the Koni's in my dad's Porsche. BTW has anyone used the Tokico HP shocks ? I heard that they are as good as the Bilsteins and Konis but for less than half the price.
I had Tokico's on my BMW.... to be honest, if I had to do it all over again, I'da gone with the Bilsteins..... the Tokico's were fine, but the warranty was very limited and when we gave the shocks a look over before installation, we were a little disappointed in the workmanship (welds etc.)..... but that's just my $0.02 worth... for me, on the Corvette in particular, I am really going to get the Bilsteins when the time comes.....
