L98 Starting Issues!!!!!!

L98 Starting Issues!!!!!!
My car has been having a mind of it own here lately. Some mourning when I go to start it barely has to turn over. Other times it turns and turns and finally with the push of the gas it will weakly start and then run like normal. Same thing when the engine is warm, except when it decides to work right it fires perfectly. It is a 90 and I know that older L98's have a cold start injector. Does this car have this? Does anyone know? I am very frustrated about it, because the problem seems to be getting worse. It acts as if it is starved for gas when it does start up quickly. Otherwise it runs perfectly. Any opinions or help would be appreciated.

RE: L98 Starting Issues!!!!!!
Your car has to have fuel, spark, air to start......Could it be your starter, your fuel pump, your injectors, worn out plugs or wires, timing not set correctly, distributor, rotor button, distributor cap, coil? Just taking a shot at it. Mech would probably know. Dont know much about the cold start injector. I havent heard that term?

RE: L98 Starting Issues!!!!!!
All the ignition components, wires, distributor, plugs, air filter, fuel filter, are new. That is the mystery to me. This is something that comes and goes. Sometimes I just have to wonder if the fuel pump is getting weak? I almost always have to press the gas to get it to start, which on a fuel injected car, you should not have to do. I know she is a old girl, but I want her to run like a champ, and for the most part she does. It is just something I worried is going to leave me stranded.

I had the same exactissues...but my problem went away after replacing the ignition module and the fuel filter....well...at least it's been fine for a few days now.I also cleaned the contacts that go to the ignition module, so not sure if that helped as well. How many miles does your baby have?

RE: L98 Starting Issues!!!!!!
Our car has a similar problem. It turns over fine, but takesa bit to actually catch... my mechanic is quite certain our problem is in a tired fuel pump. I am planning on replacing it here in the next couple weeks. I am not 100% sure it will fix the problem, but I do know I want to change the pump anyways, just so I personally know it's new.
I, too, am slightly worried about being stranded.

One possiblity is the fuel pump relay. Check out my post:
