LTPWS

RE: LTPWS
Hey Mike,
That's the Low Tire Pressure Warning System. It's telling you that one of the tires is low on air. If they are all up to snuff then it's a system fault. My 91 does it periodically.
I washed all my wheels, backside thoroughly, and now it doesn't happen any more.
A faulty sensor can cause it. You need to determine WHICH wheel has the issue. The sensors run from $75 used to $200 new. sigh.
Hth,
Jim

Jim:
Thanks! Yes I also get that Low Tire Pressure light. Last owner said he just got used to the lights on but he thought it was the passenger front tire. Yes wondering, how much air should my tires have in them? I believe I have 15's all the way around. Should the tires say the amount on them? I guess I could have a look. Thanks again!

RE: LTPWS
Mike,
The numbers, if any, on the tires are not what you want to go by.
What you need to go by is the cars needs. Your Corvette should have a placard on it that tells you the pressures. Mine is on the driver's door.
Mine are 17's and are supposed to be 30 psi. (P275/40ZR17 if that helps)

I have an 1989 vette and getting this LTPWS warning light. Wondering what light is for and how to fix it. Thanks!

If your low on air it will say "low Tire" If memory serves low tire light comes on when pressure is approx 25 to 27 psi.
If the DIC indicates service ltpws then you have a sensor or module problem
I run 33 PSI on my wide ovals.

RE: LTPWS
Exactly.
I'm going to pull the bulb on my DIC to eliminate it. Sensors are problematic and as was mentioned by someone else, I do know how to keep air in my tires.
Now. What are the ramifications of pulling the bulb? Is something else likely to be affected by this ongoing signal of an LTPWS issue? Will the computer be affected somehow? Am I inviting other issues?
Thanks, as always, in advance.
