I have an '86 and I just bought a new hood release cable for my car but was wondering if there was an easy way to replace it. It seems like I have to prettymuch take my dash apart to get to the release lever inside. And where the cable goes throught the firewall, there is a rubber boot or bushing that seems almost impossible to take out. I've done a lot of **** to my car myself, and this seems almost impossible any suggestions?

Rip the dash out and install the new cable. If your old cable breaks...ewww...its not pretty. You have to get that tool that pops it open and its still a real hassle.
