seems that whatever is connected to the temp controller snapped or something. i cannot adjust the temperature now!!! i want to know how to fix this. is there a chain or something attatched to the temperature lever?

The temp select lever is connected by a clip to the temp control door. Looks like you'll have to pull the control head & see if you can reach the cable.

If the cable is replaced there is a procedure to reset it. Don't have the FSM with me, so if you need it I can get it for you.

 

according to the haynes repair manual and past experience the heat control is a cable hooked to theselector lever and goes to the shutter inside the heater core box. you aregoing to have to remove the front trim face on the control center. watch out for the vacuum line hose cluster, it gets brittle w/ time. if the cable end is not broken off or bent try to slide the cable in and out. be careful of any electrical connectors when fishing around, so not fry anything. follow control cable to shutter lever to see if it fell off or jammed. it might just be binding.a little light spray lube might help,DO NOT OVER DO IT YOU WILL BE SORRY LATTER.

There is no reset procedure needed for a manual a/c temp control although there is an adjustment on the blend door lever. If the cable is free, then something has broke inside the heater case or something fell down inside jamming the blend door.

You have to pull the lower valance on the passenger side and twist your self under the dash and you can see the temp cable that is attached to a lever that goes into the heater case. Maybe from there you can make a determination as to what is wrong.
