Automatic Shift Lever
Am about to take a saws-all to this lever, how the heck do you get that stupid **** off? ('72) I unscrewed it as far as it would go but then that was it; won't pull off or unscrew any farther. Trying to get the console apart. Another quickie, I was told when you jack the car you should have the t-tops off? Nothing in the owners manual about it. What if it's raining and you get a flat tire. HA HA.

Nice car Kansas!!!
I don't do slush boxes myself, 4sp. only. Jacking the car......never heard that one about the T-tops. I don't take mine off and I've had her in the air several times.

RE: Automatic Shift Lever
If your frame is a bit weak, you can twist around the t-tops and break assorted tabs and fasteners if you are jacking from a corner, or leaving it hanging on a single stand for too long... In theory anyway. I've never worried about it though, because if my frame is that weak, I have more serious issues than a flat tire. Same goes for hardtop convertibles in general...
bill.

RE: Automatic Shift Lever
Thanks for answering my questions, I hope to help someone else in the futurel.
By the way, I found out that the chrome button on the auto shifter unscrews before the black **** does. But man, was that sucker TIGHT! Maybe this will help someone else.
