Default Yes to Dexcool or no

Hello everyone. Just bought my first corvette. It’s a 1987 model year and I’m stoked to have it. Always wanted one since I was a young kid growing up in the ‘80s. When I got it, I did a full fluid change. I noticed it already had Dexcool antifreeze in it but it was very rusty muddy looking. I did a full flush and replaced with Dexcool again. Question to all seasoned ‘80s model Vette owners here, is it ok to run Dexcool in a 1987 L98 engine or should I dump immediately and switch to green antifreeze?

Congratulations, Looks as if you are doing the necessary things. Dex-cool had issues years back, but i think they fixed that problem. I would say its a personal choice the dex-cool or the life time green, (still replace after 10 years) I would buy either one and use a 50/50 mix, and if you mix yourself use distilled water never tap water.

Welcome to the forum. Can't really add anything to Thomas' advice. You might monitor water pump for a while. Be sure to come back if any other issues come up with your new to you Corvette.
