Hey everyone....I was reading a post by Junior that said he had noisy injectors. I thought I was crazy but I have the same problem. My corvette is a 87 and they click so loud your can hear them with the hood down and over the exhaust. BUT.....My car runs great. there is no sputter, smoke or problem. My car runs really strong. I did the old extension on the valve cover to the ear trick and the engine makes no noise. Lifters and rockers sound great andI hear asmooth roller sound so I think all is good there. When I do the same to the injectors I get tap tap tap tap tap. Has this happened to anyone or does anyone know how to fix it. I spent my whole youth with 5.0 mustangs and need corvette help.[&:]

 

Noisy injectors are pretty much normal on some of the older L98's. If the car runs good, I wouldn't worry.

 

What if you get upgraded new ones like the Ford SVO 24 lb injectors. Would they still be noisy then?

Hey Mech......this problem is familiar to you? Well yeah it runs real good so I will leave it be. If I bought replacement injectors would itquiet it downor is this just a design flaw in the L 98's?

 

I guess the injector noise is normal I found that I was missing the wire retaining clips on all but one of my injectors and and the wires are actually vibrating loose car starts running crappy push back tight on the injectors and it runs fine again. Gonna have to get the p/n for the clips and clip em down tight

 

Well, there are reasons they could be a little noisy. 1st, how many miles on them? 100,000 miles means a lot of beating and banging at 20 to 30 times a second. They could be a little worn, checking O2 readings might reveal that. Other than that, besides pulling them, the only other ways of checking them is either with a balance test or watching waveform patterns on an ocilliscope. As I said though, if the performance is there, 24 lb injectors won't help much without higher pressure to make use of them and if your engine doesn't have the "guts" to make use of higher pressure, you are wasting your money and fuel economy.
