As part of the 86 PROJECT tear down I need to remove the shifter ****, it has a O ring. I've tried two different O ring wrenches. I cannot get enough room. Any suggestions.

 

You mean this?

Put a screw driver in the gap, pull and turn at the same time, toward the stick, and get a second screwdriver in the ring, at the back of the stick when it opens and allows space...

Once you get in the second screwdriver, get a finger in there to prevent 'ballistic dissappearance'
