Overheating??
Ok Here's the story. Engine overheating driving home last night. Boiling over at recovery tank. analogue gauge reading much higher than digital readout. This morning Started it up. analogue gauge went to 225 very quickly while digital readout was only 133. Surge tank low, low coolant light on, overflow tank full to the brim. Could my thermostat be stuck closed? any other ideas? Thanks Dave
If it was low on coolant it would do the same thing .
Also check the fans , just start engine and turn on AC switch.
When full of coolant and you are going over 30 MPH the cooling system will work with out a fan operating.
You can open the bleeder valve located by the thermostat when cool and check the operation of you Water Pump.
You can tell by squeezing the top hose together.
A few more things to check is leaves and crap in the A/C Condenser and in front of the radator.
You can put the front up on ramps to check the A/C and you can look at the radator where the A/C lines go through the cover .
You can fashion a suction tube out of something soft like a paper towell tube to protect your radator I use a peice of Pvc pipe with a paper towell tube all taped to my shop vac !
Don't forget to bleed the air several times when running the engine from that tiny little bleeder near the thermostat.
Good luck and let us know what you find !
