Default Rear Hatch Drain

Has anyone installed either a home made or bought drain kit for a C4? I have an '87, and am thinking about installing one. How thick is the body under the hatch where it shows to drill the holes for the kit? I think it would help the water problem if it works as advertised. Thanks in advance for all your help.

I haven't put one in before.

I have seen that boats and Jeep hardtops usually have extra material and extra resin at 'angled' sections, for strength. I'm bettin' that hatch corner is pretty thick re-inforcement too.

Check with blueshark there...

There is a wiring harness pretty close to where you need to drill the holes. Lots of people have done it, I have not. I can tell you if you hit the wiring harness you will be in a world of trouble. You can use a turkey baster and/or leaf blower to remove water from this area if your talking about the pain of it streaking out after you wash your car.

It's a double flange fit all the way around so any where at the bottom is going to be @1/4"thick. Just be careful about the wires Lee speaks of. also the fuel tank is quite close not to mention the need to rout the draining water to a clear spot. Does the kit include any installable fittings and hose? Remove the trim inside and fold the carpet and backing board out of the way and look under to be sure. you can also jack the car up and see this area from under the car. Good luck with it and be careful.Cheers
