Replacing BOSE system

Replacing BOSE system
Got an 1989 Coup. Never really liked the sound or system and now that its going thinking of a replacement. The rear speakers are blocked when the top is stored and the door speakers are almost useless with the top off. Want a good indash unit that fits the 89. Looking at dash and rear mounted speakers. Any suggestions on units and installation tips?

RE: Replacing BOSE system
I put a Sony Explode System into my '87 work-in-progress. Reasonably priced, sounds great, easy to install and looks cool too[8D]
Everyone who rides with me says the same things. I did the install myself. All parts and pieces from Walmart ( believe it or not) for around $360 including speakers. I did have to build a plexiglass frame to mount the rear speakers properly because the original opening was too large. Not too difficult if you have the right tools. Good luck with your bloody knuckles[:@]

Ive always been a fan of the Alpine units. they r HD ready, some IPOD ready, and a couple are available in black. I dont need the big flashy screen savers that people pay big $ for, i just need it to work.
Some infinity kappa perfects and a pheonix gold amp and you will have an awesome sound

RE: Replacing BOSE system
I REPLACED THE STOCK UNIT IN MY '92 WITH A KENWOOD MODEL THAT ALLOWED ME TO PLUG IN A USB THUMB DRIVE AND PLAY MEDIA FILES FROM MY COMPUTER- THIS IS DEFINATELY THE WAY TO GO IF YOU LIKE TO HAVE A LARGE DATA BASE OF MUSIC. i HAVE A 1 GIGABITE THUMB DRIVE AND CURRENTLY HAVE ABOUT 500 SONGS ON IT, NO MORE MESSING WITH CDS AND TRYING TO CHANGE THEM WHILE I'M DRIVING. IT WAS ALSO A HUGE SOUND IMPROVEMENT, I ALSO REPALCED ALL THE SPEAKERS WITH PIONEER UNITS.
