adding a sub to the bose system

Does anybody know if it is different adding a subwoofer to the bose system compared to a regular system. I have heard that bose only uses one wire instead of 2 per speaker.

One wire would be because Bose doesn't use a ground return to the radio, the speaker ground would be done through the mounting screws.
