Security light staying on
Hey there. Im new to this forum and am posting for the first time. I've already searched the forum but have found nothing that can help me. I have an 85 and my problem is that the security light from the factory alarm keeps blinking and I think is what's killing the battery. If it sits for more than several hours, the battery goes dead and needs to be jump started. Sometimes when I lock it using the power locks and close the driver door, about 3 seconds later the alarm goes off. What could be the problem? Is there a way to bypass or disable the factory alarm so it doesn't kill the battery? Ive heard a little bit of the VATS system, but am unclear about how it works and how much it is tied into the electrical, making it difficult or preventing the system from being bypassed. Please help. Thanks.
i think your door is not shutting all the way, the door is not hitting the light sensors enough, or the sensors are bad. open the door and press in the sensors by hand and see if the problem goes away. im not sure where they are, ive never looked.
I agree with Raisin. One of your door jamb switches is probably bad. Check you interior lights when you close doors. Also, could be your hatch switch too. The light blinking is the result of something, not the cause. [8D]
Can you guys give me a general location of where the switches may be? How long is the security light supposed to stay on before it goes out? Ill take a look at it when I get home from work. How much would those switches/sensors run for? Thanks for your guys inputs.
