shifter boot install
I am trying to replace the shifter boot on my 93 6 speed. The directions say to pry off the shifter **** top cover. Got that off. Good so far. Then it says to remove the t shaped pin and unscrew the **** from the shifter stem.THE T SHAPED PINWON'T COME OUT. I tried lifting, prying, and unscrewing it (both left and right) but it won't budge. The Corvette guy at the dealer says it should just lift out. Any suggestions? Has anyone done this before? Thanks for the assist.
With a small hammer and a drift pin(punch) tap the key DOWN just until it moves slightly. Then, using a small Vise-Grip pliers, grab the key FIRMLY. Now, with the hammer, tap UPWARDS on the Vise-Grips. The key WILL come out, just keep tapping gently, so the pliers don't pull off of the pin. They're in very tightly.
Ya' gotta' be careful to not mangle the pin with the pliers...

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try and let you know. Hopefully not for more tips or where I can buy a new t pin. And thanks for the info on the carpet. Haven't gotten around to that yet, though. Later
