Default SLP intake

I read ( in mid america catalog )about a tripleSLP air intake which has three cone filters and it says it can add up to 20 hp to the 1992-96 vettes and was wondering if any one has one. This intake is about $296 and I want to be sure it works before Ibuyit.

Don't waste your money. They call it a "cold air intake" which tecnically, its not. It induces air from under the hood - hot air from under the hood. It looks nice but thats about all it does. If you want a true cold air intake your going to have to cut a hole in the bumper or put a scoop on your hood - one that draws cooler, denser air from outside. They are not even beneficial on a stock engine. Somewhere on the web are results from track and dyno runs that show that there was virtually no gain in ET or HP from this mod on a stock engine. It can help a modded car especially a heavily modded car. You might gain 1 or 2 HP on a stock engine but its highly doubtful. Its snake oil. A cut lid and K & N will be just as beneficial on a stock engine and cost a whole lot less.

Yep, the triple claw. Don't get me wrong, looks wise - it can't be beat IMO but functionality its not going to breath any better than a cut lid w/K&N filter.

Lee I was wondering what you have done to your car, performance wise, since you havea 92 like me. Since everything I want to do to my car seems to not make a difference to the performance of my car.

Here is the kicker - I haven't done anything. I prefer to leave mine alone. I have 140000 miles on it. Its too late to try and wake up my motor. Maybe during a rebuild which is bound to happen sooner or later but I can tell you what I WOULD do if it were me and I had the money: LT4 Hotcam, 1.6 roller rockers, longtube headers, 3.73 gears, stall converter.

Here is an excellent site put togethor by a former LT1 owner. I know this guy from another site and these items have been thoroughly researched, tested, and reults have been proven. http://www.wku.edu/~nathan.plemons/h...rformance.html

Look especially at: http://www.wku.edu/~nathan.plemons/htmls/increase.html
