i notice when i drive my '85 for about 30 mins. and cut off it does nothing upon trying to restart (starter doing nothing) but after it sits about 5-10 mins starter turns over perfectly and starts right up. what could this be

 

i had a re-built starter that gave the same problem after cutting the car off, but i'm not sure if a bad starter will cause a shutdown .

 

You need a new starter..one day you will go out to start it and nothing will happen ..I believe you windings are shot ...make sure you check around on price ..starters and alternators very widely on price ..heck check ebay i
