Well since I found a new forum. Quiestion. Ok I got a 86 its got that stupid digidash. My speedometer is whack. It tells me im doing 50 or more when im IDLING. But when im idling its bouncing around 55, 80 20 MPH. Also it flickers constantly. Then my headlights flicker with it. My CD player flickers with it(lights), my courtesty lights flicker and come on and off during driving. Everytime I hit a bump it kind of blinks hard hten goes back to flickering. I have no idea what this means. Also my coolant thing is messed up. As soon as I start it up it flys up to 299 and wont budge. We(daddy and I) just replaced the coolant sensor. So its not that. We have concluded that we have a short somewhere. Where could it be? Battery? Alternator? Digidash is not going for 500 bucks when I doubt it needs that....Please help me on this guys. Thanks. I am going to have alot of post because lol my car is basically original so I replace stuff constantly. So dont think im posting for the hell of it. I really do have all these probs. Thanks again. I saw the other threads but I did not see it specific to my problem. Sorry if im cluttering up the forum...

 

i would check all of your grounds and check the voltage from the alternator using a volt meter.

 

What happens if it is the alternator? How do I fix it. Its a new ACdelco alternator...

 

Check your (+) battery connection and (+) common connector terminal near your battery for corrosion.
