Suggested 86 AM/FM replacement?
Seems the Bose AM/FM Tape bit it. The radio comes on when it feels like and and the tape keeps flipping sides till it just ejects. Does anyone have a recommendation that's affordable just to replace the AM/FM tape unit? I've seen what appears to be a Pioneer DEH-P47DH in Ecklers.

Has anyone used this unit? I just need some tunes and don't need to rattle my teeth. An iPod ready unit would be cool. Any thoughts? I dont want to replace amps or speakers due to limited funds. Steve

hello..I just bought an dinstalled this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=7624987820 great thing about it is the USB port...just download some songs from your computer to it and ...intant Ipod ...no kidding you can get a 1 gig flashdrive for 40$$ it also plays MP3s burnt to CD as well...sounds pretty good too!
i like the alpine heads. they are very affordable, though they are not a direct fit like that pioneer. i personally think that one is a rip off, $300+ dollars for a head that hardly has any features. the new alpines are directly compatable with ipod....watch out...some heads say they're ipod ready, but you have to buy a $100 box to connect the two. the new alpines are plug and play with the ipod.
i think it looks just fine to have a regular size head, especially if you can find a nice mounting kit. you can just bypass the amps to avoid replacing the speakers (wont sound as good, but it works)
