Haven't been asking questions there, but sure read some terrible responses.

 

Use a torque wrench when you replace the pan gasket, it is VERY easy to overtighten & split the gaskets on the older 700 trannys with a cork gasket.

 

What happened? Did you drop your own pan?

 

Worse than that, the case is aluminum. I stripped one of the case holes, with a mickey mouse 7V cordless. Now I use nothing but the 8" ratchet extension, and hand force. No leaks yet. The only torque wrench I got is that 18" - 51/2 lb. great neck[&:]
