Use a torque wrench when you replace the pan gasket, it is VERY easy to overtighten & split the gaskets on the older 700 trannys with a cork gasket.

Use a torque wrench when you replace the pan gasket, it is VERY easy to overtighten & split the gaskets on the older 700 trannys with a cork gasket.
Worse than that, the case is aluminum. I stripped one of the case holes, with a mickey mouse 7V cordless. Now I use nothing but the 8" ratchet extension, and hand force. No leaks yet. The only torque wrench I got is that 18" - 51/2 lb. great neck[&:]

Sure - I don't mind bein' a guinea[sm=smiley30.gif]. Hope there's somethin' there for ya...

I'll get a few more pics on re-assembly - When I'm done, just watch out for the mushroom cloud ...
