I have a 1984 C4 w/over 100k. My AT has always shifted hard into 3rd gear. Sometimes it sound like the rearend is being knocked out of it. Now 3rd and 4th gear are gone. Will a 700r4 trans out of anything else fit or is there some unique about the Corvette version? I'm not sure the car is worth fixing the old one.

 

Well, I suspect we will need the experts in here, but I do know that Chevrolet has been building the 700R4 for years and years and years. I *believe* it's interchangealbe between car models, but like I said, let's wait for the experts...

As for value of the car.. is it really that rough? Up here a car like yours in half decent shape would get you well north of $10k. I think you can get your whole tranny redone for somewhere in the neighborhood of $2k, and your car will still be worth quite a bit depending on overall shape... just a thought.
