Default Transmission Vibration

Well I just recently purchased a 1994 Z07 Corvette. And am new to this site.
But ever since I purchased the car from Florida I have noticed that right as I hit 3,000 RPM (in neutral or in any gear) I get a nasty vibration throughout the car. I have checked the Halfshafts, Driveline, motor mounts, tranny mounts and the usual mounting points underneath the car. I have even put the stock exhaust back on because the guy before had some pretty crazy custom exhaust system on it. And that lessened the noise a little bit. You can put your hand on the engine and rev it and feel no vibration at all, but it's only when you sit in the car and do it that you feel it.

Has anyone else had this problem? I think it may be the flywheel because I noticed it has a new clutch master cylindar on it. Which leads me to believe they may have done clutch work on it and messed something up on the flywheel.

Hopefully my problem makes sense and any help would be VERY appreciated. Thanks.

Jeremy

Default RE: Transmission Vibration

unless you know your stuff about trannies, i would try to get it to the tranny shop, and maybe have them drive it...to give you an idea...

could you check with the previous owner and ask what was done?

Default Extension housing bushing

I have a blown out bushing in my transmission extension housing. I have vibration at 75+ and scoring on my yoke shaft.

id love to change it out but I can't seem to remove the driveline support beam to get to it.

Do you know how?

Welcome to the forums. If you are parked and run the engine to 3K and you feel the vibration in the drivers seat that eliminates your drive shafts. I would check the bearing on the transmission input shaft and pilot bushing for wear, if that looks good it may be a problem with the clutch disk or face plate. If you want a really smooth clutch pull the clutch out, all three pieces and if they look good have a machine shop balance it. Or replace the face plate and hope that fixes it.
