Turn signal question
I recently purchased a 1992 Vette. As with any 20 year old car it has a few problems but nothing major. It does have a problem with the turn signals. It is very sloppy. It will engage the left signal but not the right. The wipers work but the hi beams do not and when you push upward to engage the right signal nothing. I'm thinking it could be the turn signal cam but am not positive. Any advice or pointers on this issue would be greatly appreciated. I need to get this fixed before I can get the car inspected. you might need a new lever for it, but most likely u should have a buddy stand behind the car while u use the brakes cause if a brake light is out it wont work, this is coming from personla experiance and all u need to do is replace the light. for the head light like i said it might be your lever for it but i would replace the headlights to see if it is or not, i put siverlight premiums in mine and they work amazing. o and if a brake light is out the one side will work and the side that has the light that is out wont so im thinkin thats ur problem.
I have a 1992. I have had the same problems you have had. Yes, as stated earlier, the steering wheel has to come off. If you remove the side panel of the steering column you can see it. I wasn't keen on messing with the airbag so I took it to the dealership. It's a $600.00 fix. The part isn't cheap and it's labor intensive.
Just bought a turn signal switch myself. Not having an airbag, I plan on doing the install, appears to be pretty straightforward. If you have doubts about the lights themselves and the wiring, try the hazard switch. It engages left and right turn signals at the same time. Good way to prove the wiring and the bulbs and such.
Not its not the lights its definately in the switch. The multi function switch just wobbles except for the left signal which it will engage.I have no doubts that the wiring is good . Its definately a hard part failure.
I took a shot at pulling the steering wheel. When I got down to where the puller got tight, it got REALLY tight. There is mention in the manual of a "clip" somewhere that needs to be removed "if fitted". Great, lots of help. Can't find a clip, and the wheel ain't moving.
