Weather Stripping

Weather Stripping
So, I knew when I bought my '85 a month and a half ago, I would have to replace and repair some things. Well, I need to replace the weatherstripping on both windows on the doors.
I've priced it on Ecklers.com. Is this the most reasonable place (cost wise) to get replacement parts?
Also, is replacing the weatherstripping something my husband and I can do or should we take it to a professional to have it installed?
I've never been a "car" person before, until now! Now, I'm a VETTE person!
Thanks for your help,
Michelle (Vet Head) in Utah

RE: Weather Stripping
Ecklers are pretty good, I bought mine from a company called eurovettes it was not hard to fit either and i dod all the roof, the screens and doors. Did not need any special tools to fit it took about an hour to do the whole lot

RE: Weather Stripping
Aftermarket weatherstripping does not always fit as it should. The C-4 models goes on for 10 years and more. Some fit and some do not!
Be very cautious and buy from GM or a reputable aftermarket dealer!
Just a heads up.
Very easy to install but sometimes needs adjustments!

You and your husband can do it if you have the tools and the time. I find removing the old stuff the most difficult part. Buying the complete kit is the least expensive if you will be keeping the car long term. Buy the stuff identified as OEM if possible and buy the tools identified as needed fro the job.

RE: Weather Stripping
I have a 96 LT-4 Vette and I had to purchase weather stripping because the rear deck seal separated at the joint. Also at the bottom of the front windshield the weather stripping has started to separate or tear. I went to Carlise to the Corvettes At Carlise this year and purchased the complete set for $290.00 from a vender named Earl Bonenblust his company is called Easy Earl Enterprises. His e-mail address is partspusher@worldnet.att.net . He can be reached by phone at 1(585) 455-3279. Hopefully he can help you out. I`ve been told to be very carefull if I try to put them on myself because the adheasive is tough to get off if you get it on your paint.
