Default What’s it worth?

Long story but here’s the short of it. My wife and I are building a waterfront house. We sold her Miata convertible and my 66 impala convertible to partially fund the new house. We both miss having a fun car so we decided to buy this 91 C4 that had been sitting for a couple years tied up in an estate. I got it running and driving, fixed all the issues and am currently rebuilding the power sport seats. It will be 100% when I sell it. The paint is beautiful. It has 3 tiny blemishes in the paint that most people (except for us) wouldn’t see. It has 81,060 miles on it. The top has no issues at all. It is a 6 sp manual car. The only real option that is obvious to me is the power sport seats. I think everything else is standard but I don’t know how to tell. It has ac, power windows and door locks. It does not have selective ride control. It runs really well and everything will work when it’s sold. Any ideas on a fair price. I understand it’s worth what someone will pay for it so you don’t have to state that. What do you think is a fair price? I don’t need to hold out for an extra hundred bucks. I was thinking of starting at $12k. Is that too high? Red with black interior and top with a 6 sp seems like a desirable car. My wife loves it.

I don't think your price is too far off, but why would you sell it?

We still need to put siding on the house and install a sea wall. I way underestimated the cost of the siding and will probably sell the car to pay for the siding. We are building the house out of pocket and don’t want a loan. So it’s just about the short term cash flow. I can buy another car. As long as I can get $10,500 for it I won’t get hurt.

The latest Corvette Magazine Buyers Guide lists a '91 roadster from $8,000 to $22,000. The categories start at Needs TLC, Average, Good, and Show Ready. Their average estimate is $9,500 and they're good estimate is $14,000. This was as of last December. Of course the data comes from somewhat earlier than that to allow publication of the magazine. If that is accurate then your pricing at $12,000 seems in the ballpark.

I just traded my 94 convert. with 65000 mi on it. Almost identical to yours except it was red on red with a black top. Sport seats, no select ride. I did put a Corsa cat back on several years ago. Looked great, ran great. I got 11500 on a 13 GS. Dealer has it listed for 16500 and I doubt they did anything to it. You're probably very fair at $12000. I could have got more selling it private but then your dealing with extra tax monies, advertising etc. I just chose to trade.
