i have a 94 vette and i was looking to mod it. i was wondering what u guys think i shoudl do to it. thanks

 

Congrats on the Vette! The LT-1 is very easy to mod-much aftermarket support. Figure your budget and go from there-too much modifying can hamper drivability. Id suggest starting on the induction side. You could go with one of the aftermarket filter set-ups, and 1.6-1 roller rockers-don't forget an airfoil for the throttlebody-it works(I had an LT-1 powered Trans Am). Exhaust is always nice-sounds cool and a couple extra ponies is always good. Advertised horsepower gains are usually optimistic-and if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Your stock suspension is pretty well sorted-are you gonna race it? If not, a good set of Koni, Bilstein, or Tokico shocks will be noticable. Don't go overboard on tire and wheel selection, bigger isn't always better. Find something that fits you-whether it's a retro look or a new billet design or even a later model Vette wheel. Paint and interior can also be a cool way to make your car really yours. I personally think the clean lines of all the models are great and intend to stay clear of body kits and wings, but it's your car, so don't worry about what everyone else thinks. Definately upgrade the sound system. The Bose in the C4's is awful. I went w/Alpine head unit, Infinity speakers, amp and a banbpass box w/2 10" subs. Love it! Good luck and enjoy your car.

Also, look hard at just buying crate engine. They often cost less and offer more performance that you will overwise get. The also have a guarrantee.

In the January issue of Hot Rod (on sale now at most places), between pages 110 and 120, are ads, at least two I recall, from companies that sell crate small block chevy engines, that, with only a little bit of work, will drop right in and you'll be running that evening, or at least by the end of the weekend.

The two ads I remember reading had crate engines from $1700 to $11,000, with displacements from 350 cubic inches to 572 (yes, a 572 small block - its a trick engine but it fits, sort of) and HP from 290 to 675.

You pays your money and you takes your HP.
