Up here in Ontario, Canada, we have Sunoco 94 and it rings out to an actual 96 octane rating more for the Winter months than anything else. Burns extremely clean.

Hello!! I think you should use 93,or higher,if you can find it.I believe the Vette has always required premium, but I'm not sure. But I would still use high-test.Just to be safe, you know??

The owner's manual calls for 91 octane. the higher the octane, the slower the gasoline burns. higher octane does help reduce knock, but after a certain point it will hurt performance unless your engine is designed for it.

91-93 depending on your state, I tried 87 ONCE in my LT1 and she hated it

Gotta pay to play

I read an article many years ago that you can run the lowest Octane in your car as long as it doesn't knock. That you are paying to much for high Octane if you don't need it.
But I have also heard just the other day that the new cars with computers will adjust the car to what ever Octane you put in and that it wasn't good to change your Octane back and forth because this would screwup your computer.

I would say in the long run that you own a Corvette for the preformance of the car and that it will perform best with High Octane gasoline (93).
All your computer will do is feel the pinging in the knock sensor then retard the hell out of the timing and you will lose hp. and no going back and forth wont screw up your PCM, all it is is a brain, it takes and recives info. you will never find the same rating any gas unless you go to the same station everytime you fill up.

Hope that makes sence

Tried the low octain fuel in my 86 vert, when I first got it, the amount of pinging under the hood was crazy . I use the throttle pretty heavy and it would rattle like a diesel (the timing would retard but go back to a normal timing advance when not under load , mash the throttle again and the same thing would happen ) So I just use high octain only now and no more pinging.
Cheers Rob

I used to put in the V-power gas not only cause it was 93 octane, but also because its supposed to have all those extra detergents. The engine ran very smooth, but there seemed to be slightly less throttle respone. My car is happy on 89. I think ive got my timing at 8.5 BTDC
