Default Young vette owner needs serious help

Ok boys i have a story that will amaze you i Have a 1984 vette with a 180 over cam. I raced A 2001 camaro v6 and he waxed my ***. I pulled away from the start by far and then when we hit third he blew past me and there was no catchin him. The camaro is all stock except for a chip. And i just put a new catliatic converter in my car along with new plugs and wires. So if you guys have any suggestion on what might still be wrong with the vette let me know becuse the reason i got a vette is becuse they are fast and this one's sure in the hell is not.

Sorry about your luck. The '84 may look nice, but is the worst Vette to buy in my opinion, only 205hp and that Cross-fire injection....ish. The '01 Camaro makes 200hp out of a V6! Lucky for me, when I was looking to buy my first Vette, I wasdirected torwards buying a '90 or newer. I wound up with my '94 and love it. If you're lucky, soon you will grow tired of racing on the street and will just cruise around(as I did). Your car is perfect for that. If you do want to go fast and still have the Cross-fire, I would start all over in the engine compartment. Just my $0.02

your a brave man to admit that outcome! at least it was a chevy. If that happens to me a supercharger will be on order the next day. Many tricks out there to boost your vette, just take it a little at a time.

Man, a V6, that's pretty bad, but not surprising if you look at the specs of the 84 vette. Looks like you guys are matched for horsepower actually, except his car is newer and more efficient. I'd say invest in all the cheap mods that you can find. I wouldn't spend over $500 though, you have to consider thatthe $500 can be puttowards a newer vette....u can get good deals on the late eighties 88-91 models still. Not sure what you can get for the 84 though...if you can get 5,000 for it that would be good, and usethattowards a 91. Make sure you get a vette with the stock performance axle ratio though, then you can say goodbye to these V6 camaros and newere Z28 camaros...not too sure about the the newer late 90s SS camaros...might need an lt4 to take on one of those. I have a 91 L98 with the performance axle ratio...all stock...and pleased with the power. Car was 8k, more than an 84 but well worth saving up for.
