I have heard (seen) that it can, as long as the fob is not from a 2001 and newer vehicle. You might to see if you can sync it.

I believe these are the procedures:

1. Turn ignition on.
2. Turn radio off.
3. Press DIC RESET button.
4. Press OPTIONS until display is blank.
5. Press and hold RESET for 3 seconds.
6. Press OPTIONS until FOB TRAINING displayed.
7. Press RESET once to begin programming sequence.
8. Simultaneously press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on
fob for 13 seconds. Message will appear on DIC when remote is
programmed. (FOB Learned)
9. Turn ignition off and remove key.
10. Test remote.

Joe,

I would give it a try. You have nothing to lose.

I reprogramed my remote and it works , I bought a new battery and put it in at the parts store , they have one of those tester's and I tried it and it says that my remote was bad, I tried the good one and it made the tester flash saying it was good go figure, good thing I reprogamed my remote.
